Institute for the Redesign of Learning operates Almansor Academy, a private school for students in kindergarten through age 22 years old with learning and emotional disabilities. Students work towards a Certificate of Completion or High School Diploma.

LSS San Gabriel Valley provides social and volunteer opportunities for individuals experiencing intellectual or developmental disabilities while also reinforcing basic life skills and independence. Referrals are made through qualified Regional Centers.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) provide free assistance to income eligible individuals and/or individuals over 60 who need help in completing federal and state income tax returns. VITA program specializes in assisting disabled taxpayers and non-English speaking taxpayers. TCE program provides free income tax assistance for individuals ages 60 and older.

Heart Club is a social and recreational club for teens, and adults with developmental, physical, and/or learning disabilities. Activities include crafts, meals, dances, games, and sports. Activities take place at Gerdes Park.

Several taxicab companies in Torrance participate in the Dial-A-Taxi program. Eligible Torrance residents can purchase credits for taxi rides at a discounted cost.

Valley Village\’s day and after school programs offer speech therapy and communication skills training, a computer lab, sensory integration training, vocational skills training, physical therapy and gross motor exercises, art and ceramics classes plus daily living skills training.

New Horizons\’ Achievement Center is a day training program for people with disabilities that provides education in functional living skills, including cooking, money management, personal hygiene, computer skills, arts and crafts, emergency skills, and recreation.

SRO Housing offers permanent supportive housing to people with disabilities or complex physical/behavioral health conditions. They also provide case management for needs including mental health, medical, dental, transportation, food, drug/alcohol treatment, support groups, socialization/recreational activities, In-Home Supportive Services and more.

Metrolink gives discounts for monthly passes, 7-day passes, and one-way and round trip tickets for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and individuals with Medicare.

Community-Based Adult Services (CBAS) is a day program that provides medical services for individuals who need physical assistance. Clients receive medical assessments, nursing care, meals and nutritional counseling plus physical, speech, behavioral and occupational therapy.

Several Senior Centers in Los Angeles County provide income tax preparation to income eligible seniors and their caregivers during tax season.

Wayfinder\’s offers children who have moderate-to-severe disabilities residential family living services in Wayfinder’s group homes in the Los Angeles area. Programming to help residents learn basic life skills and therapeutic recreational activities and community outings.

Salvation Army Glendale Meals on Wheels delivers daily meals on weekdays to people who are housebound.

KnowBarriers offers goal setting, support, accountability, problem solving, and resources so that clients stay motivated and moving forward toward short term and long term goals. Clients commit to three 45-minute coaching sessions per month for 6 months.

PIH Health provides a 33-bed skilled nursing facility for patients who require continued medical care following hospitalization. The facility can help with continued recovery from illness or management of a chronic illness or disability.

BurbankBus provides pick up and drop off transportation service for the elderly and individuals with disabilities living in Burbank.

Community Services Department offers transportation services to residents who are 60+ years of age or disabled (any age). This service transports participants within city limits and up to 15 miles outside South El Monte for medical appointments.

Gardena Municipal Bus Lines offers discounted bus fares for seniors, students, and people with a disability. Children under 5 ride for free with a paying adult.

The City of Newark\’s HEART Club Afternoons is an after school program for children with disabilities. Fitness, games, crafts, and socializing are the main focus of the program.
