California Department of Developmental Services offers an online search tool to find a local regional center. Non-profit organizations called regional centers provide diagnosis and assessment of eligibility and help plan, access, coordinate and monitor the services. There is no charge for the diagnosis and eligibility assessment. Once eligibility is determined, most services are free regardless of age or income.

Early Explorers is a self-taught learning program which introduces blind and low-vision children and their families to the long white cane. Families receive resources to teach children ages 0-8 cane travel skills, including a dvd and child-sized cane.

NFB-NEWSLINE is a free audio news service for anyone who is blind, low-vision, deafblind, or otherwise print-disabled that offers access to over 500 publications, emergency weather alerts, and job listings. Accounts are available for adults and children.
